Yes, God loves everyone, including all of us sinners. But, how? When we sin, we are basically telling God that we know better and can do this without Him. Such a disregard for God begs this question.
So, how can God love a sinner, one who shows such disregard for Him? This is where we should be happy God is God and we are not. For us, it is terribly difficult for us to love someone who does hateful things. But for God, who is Love, it is not difficult, but it is painful. After all, we are His children.
Perhaps the best example we have is the family. Parents love their children even after the children have shown disregard for them. God is the One who created us. We owe our being to God, much like we owe it to our parents. The first commandment after the three about our relationship with God: Honor your mother and father.
If we were created in the image and likeness of God, we are children of God. Think about that. The infinite, all-powerful, all-loving God of the universe calls you son or daughter. How could God do anything but love you?
